I remembered pokemon used to be a large part of my gaming childhood. At first it was all about completing the 'campaigns' and beating trainers over and over again. And then gc/weixiang introduced me to smogon, where I first learnt about competitive pokemon. That was the first time I actually felt nervous about a pokemon fight lol.
Then as usual, when something interests me I learn everything about it, so I sort of mugged everything about competitive pokemon as well. But then again, mugging is different from actual learning and creating, so I was always using gc's flawless stall team during the gen 4 fights on smogon (until gen 5 comes where stalling became less playable). I would say the only team I actually made and was proud of was my OU Revenge Trolling team. It had a ridiculously simple concept and somehow it made a lot of ridiculous wins against pubbies. (while gc likes to say because they r retarded, but still it was a good concept). Then the rest of my pokemon history involves me playing with gc and haxing him over and over again, (I have this thing about being very lucky when I play against gc) playing against pubbies and having hilarious wins and sharing replays with each other (I used surprise speed ninetales before it became mainstream, ha!)
I would say pokemon has been one of my fondest childhood memories, and I still play competitive pokemon occasionally, just to remember the past.
